Stress-proof your life
The technology of our Audio Products

These are by far the most exciting tools I have come across in the fight
against chronic stress and its deadly effects. Read on here about
brainwave entrainment and subliminal information processing.

Brainwave Entrainment

EEG and the brain's state

EEG (Electroencephalography) technology is used to measure brain's
electrical vibrations from the surface of the scalp. The resulting EEG
pattern will contain frequency elements mainly below 30Hz. The
frequencies are categorized into four states as follows:

The dominant frequency in the EEG pattern determines what shall be
called the current state of the brain. If the amplitude of the alpha range
frequencies is highest, then the brain is said to be in the alpha stage. Note,
that other frequencies still exist and it is impossible to give any "exact
frequency your brain is operating on." However, later references to the
brain states use the simplification of assuming that such a single frequency
exists.

Entraining the brain to a desired state

If external stimulus is applied to the brain, it becomes possible to entrain
the brain frequency from one stage to another. For example, if a person is
in beta stage (highly alert) and a stimulus of 10Hz is applied to his/her
brain for some time, the brain frequency is likely to change towards the
applied stimulus. The effect will be relaxing to the person. This
phenomenon is also called the frequency following response.

When the brain's state is close to the applied stimulus, entrainment works
more efficiently. Thus, when doing a sweep from one frequency to another,
the starting frequency should be as close to your current brain state as
possible. The sweep speed should be such that your brain's state changes
steadily with it, so that the difference never gets very large. In practice, it is
difficult to determine your brain state without extra equipment (like EEG
devices). However, you can quite safely assume that during the day your
brain is in the beta stage (about 20Hz) and you can start the sweep from
there. If you are already somewhat relaxed, you can use a start frequency
of 15Hz or a few Hz lower.

Stimulating the brain with binaural beat frequencies

The easiest way of applying stimulus to the brain is via ears. Other senses
could be used as well, and vision is actually used quite often (often in
addition to hearing). However, humans cannot hear sounds low enough to
be useful for brain stimulation, so special techniques must be used. One
such special technique used is called binaural beats.

If the left ear is presented with a steady tone of 500Hz and the right ear a
steady tone of 510Hz, these two tones combine in the brain. The
difference, 10Hz, is perceived by the brain and is a very effective stimulus
for brainwave entrainment. This 10Hz is formed entirely by the brain. When
using stereo headphones, the left and right sounds do not mix together
until in your brain. The frequency difference, when perceived by the brain
this way, is called a binaural beat.

The effect of the audible frequencies used

To get a stimulus of 10Hz, you may use tones of 500Hz and 510Hz, or
400Hz and 410Hz, or 800Hz and 810Hz, or so on. The only requirements
are that the tone is heard well enough and that it is below about 1000Hz.
Below 1000Hz, the wavelength of the skull is sufficiently small so that the
sound waves curve around it.

Altered brain states

As mentioned above, applying a stimulus to the brain will eventually bring
the brain's state closer to the stimulus frequency. The following
paragraphs describe some possible effects of this.

Helping in meditation

Meditation is essentially about willingly being able to alter one's brain
frequency to a desired state. While meditators have traditionally used
several years to learn the techniques of meditation, you can now attain the
same effect with brainwave entrainment. No special training or great
discipline is required. Good meditation frequencies are in the alpha range,
from 8Hz to 13Hz.

When a certain brainwave state is experienced and practiced over a period
of time, the brain will "learn" the state change and it will become easier to
self-produce the desired brainwave state at will. Thus, using brainwave
entrainment, you can expect to get some of its effects later even without
any entrainment.

Reducing learning time

The theta stage (4hz - 7Hz) has been found to increase learning
capabilities. In fact, children spend more time in theta stage than adults,
which probably explains the accelerated learning capabilities of children.
Alpha frequencies are also useful for learning purposes. You can play
language cassettes, subliminal tapes, etc. during an entrainment session
for a maximum effect.

Reducing sleep needs

Some people have found that half an hour a day of the Theta stage can
replace up to 4 hours of sleep.

Treatment of certain mental diseases

Brainwave entrainment is used in treatment of depression, low self-esteem,
attention deficit disorder, drug and alcohol addiction and autism, to name a
few.

Brainwave entrainment has also been found helpful in alleviating
headaches and migraines.

Miscellaneous

Some users have also reported increases in their sex drive as a result of
brainwave entrainment.

Subliminal information processing (SIP)

The subconscious mind
Everything we have heard, everything we have been told AND accepted as
true, is stored in our subconscious mind (deep inside) as beliefs and as
‘truths’ – our personal truths anyway. Many of these personal truths
started out as negative inputs, i.e. negative programming from other
people. An individual’s behavior is based to a large degree on the
information accumulated and accepted over that individual’s lifetime –
his/her personal programming if you will.
This inner chatter that goes on underneath your ordinary thinking and
constantly sabotages your life. They become self-fulfilling prophesies,
these nagging little pieces of someone else’s opinion that you have
accepted as true. They can eat away at your self esteem, at your ability to
live a happy and fulfilling life.

So how do we combat this subversive inner sabotage of our best
intentions? Well, the subconscious isn’t very good at deciding what
information is correct or useful, in fact it pretty much takes in everything
until it becomes “just the way it is” and then we act out of this inner
“knowledge”. It turns out that this non-discriminatory ability of the
subconscious, while being at the heart of our problem, can also be the
very thing that saves us – if we can find a way to put it to good use.

The way to achieve this is to use what is called subliminal information
processing (SIP). Investigations into the use of subliminals have been
going on for some years and, although many people disagree as to its
usefulness or even if it works at all, one man is convinced that this
approach does indeed yield amazing results. Having tried it myself, I am
also convinced that Dr Eldon Taylor’s methods work – and work brilliantly.

Auditory stimulation
Early research by Dr. Eldon Taylor and others proved that auditory
stimulation is one of the most effective ways to change a state of mind He
theorized that by using verbal stimuli (affirmations) just below the threshold
of awareness, they could have a positive effect on the mood and even the
behavior of the listener. These theories proved to be correct and this
particular type of subliminal technology was born.

By definition, an ordinary subliminal tape is recorded at a sub-threshold
level of awareness. By contrast Dr. Taylor’s method records messages at a
perceptible level of awareness and the messages are disguised in what is
best described as an audio illusion. (You may hear words from time to
time.) So, by blending the affirmations with music or the sounds of nature
in this way, normal conscious awareness is bypassed and yet the
affirmations strongly register in the mind. We have incorporated Dr Taylor’
s findings into our audio products.

As humans, we have a natural ability to absorb information, even when we
are not thinking about it. The key to changing our state of mind is to do it
with the least amount of conscious effort. Why? Well, conscious thought
can interfere with and even prevent proper mind training. The art is to
produce life-changing mind stimulation and absorption of information
without the interference of conscious thought, to bypass the resistance in
the mind and go to work at the subconscious level, producing change from
the inside out.

So, according to Dr. Taylor, his techniques are effective because they
allow positive messages to reach the subconscious mind, where they can
produce positive results, without any conscious resistance. As I said
before, this is very important because our subconscious mind is
indiscriminate with the information it accepts over a lifetime. We have all
given ourselves a ‘good talking to’ now and then, haven’t we? Did it do any
good? Mostly not; New Year resolutions, sadly, are mostly history within a
month or two.

Two Brains
You are aware, I’m sure, that the human brain is composed of two halves
or hemispheres – the left and right brain. These two hemispheres work
together or independently to process information and control our bodies.

The left brain is commonly called the analytical brain, and is thought to
control such things as mathematical and language skills, organization, logic
and reason. The right brain is often called the spatial brain, and it is
thought to be responsible for creativity, emotions, intuitiveness,
visualization and the like. Many scientists also believe the right hemisphere
is associated with emotional and subconscious learning.

The brain’s halves work together to understand language both literally and
spatially. SIP technology has been designed to involve both hemispheres
of the brain according to their unique specialties. On one channel,
accessing the left brain, meaningfully spoken permissive affirmations are
delivered. On the second channel, directive messages are delivered to be
recognized by the right brain’s unique spatial understanding. The channel-
differentiated messages shadow each other from conscious recognition,
but on the subconscious level where the perception takes place, the mind
understands and receives these affirmations.

Now I want you to imagine what wonders are created when we combine
both of these exciting technologies together. Brainwave entrainment and
subliminal information processing! Deep induced meditation and all its
benefits PLUS the ability to change how you perceive potential stressors!
Can you see just how powerful these are together?

Well you don’t have to imagine or speculate. The Stress-proof your life
range of audio CDs are available combining all the powerful technologies
in one package.
